Nestled in the Adelaide Hills, just off the South Eastern Fwy, Littlehampton is the sister town to Mount Barker, which lies to the south of the freeway. Littlehampton was laid out in 1849 by Benjamin Gray who named it after his native town in Sussex.

The town is home to several small industries and is also surrounded by sheep, dairying and fruit growing industries, and has undergone rapid expansion in recent times due to its close proximity with Adelaide, somewhat cheaper housing and the ability to offer a quieter lifestyle.
