Gladstone is a small town located on the B79/B82 junction in the mid north region of South Australia. The town was once a major rail junction where three lines (all with differing gauges) linked together, however with the standardisation of the lines and subsequent closure of many of the state's lesser used lines, Gladstone is now only a centre for the local grain and sheep industries. The town boasts the largest inland storage silos in South Australia and also has an historic gaol which was built in the 19th century, used during WW2 and upon its closure during the 1970's, has become a tourist attraction.
