Maroochydore is a major commercial hub on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
Boasting a number of prominent shopping centres, it also close to a number of attractions including Maroochydore Beach, a number of local waterways including the Maroochy River, plus nature reserves to the west of the CBD such as Buderim Forest Park and Eudlo Creek Conservation Park.
The town's name comes from the Aboriginal indigenous Yuggera language word 'Muru-kutchi', meaning red-bill and referring to the black swan, which is commonly seen in the area.
