Named after the English town of Dalby, Dalby is a large town situated on the Warrego, Bunya and Moonie Highway junction and lies in the heart of the Darling Downs. The region is surrounded by rich agricultural soils primarily producing cotton and grain. The town was first settled in the 1840's yet by 1860, Dalby had become an important railhead at the junction of 5 lines. To the north are the Bunya Mountains National Park which are home to various waterfalls and walking tracks which offer panoramic views of the Darling Downs. The town has a busy shopping precinct and is an important stop for motorists due to its key position.
