New South Wales: Port Kembla
Incorporating photos and Information from Michael Greenslade's former Australian Towns, Cities and Highways site

Port Kembla is located on the New South Wales Leisure Coast in the Illawarra region, and is a southern suburb of Wollongong.

The town is host to the BHP steelworks and plays a major role in seabound shipping between Australia and overseas. The town is the main heavy industrial hub of the Illawarra region.

The town is home to quite a large mix of cultural backgrounds due to families flocking to the area after World War 2 seeking to set up a new life for themselves. Port Kembla is services by heavy passenger rail and a number of bus routes and features a mix of private and public housing and offers a beautiful beach to the south of the town centre as well as a lookout at Hill 60 which was once used in defence efforts.
