General Information:

C174 is a mostly rural route connecting Princes Hwy (A1) with Hamilton Hwy (B140). It also links the southwest of Victoria with Great Ocean Rd (B100)

History:

• 1856: Youl’s Creek Road Bridge constructed. The bridge is a small, single-span bluestone bridge built to a design by Dilmond John Howes, who was engineer of the Belfast District Roads Board and later the Shire of Belfast. 2
• 1864: Installation of triangular bluestone posts with a shaved top. The mileposts were erected when the Victorian Roads and Bridges Office requested local shires to erect mileposts along major roads. 3
