General Information:
B80 is a rural route north of Adelaide, and east of Port Pirie. A mostly rural 2-lane highway, the route services mostly farming communities, commercial and residential zones. The route links the major highways of Augusta Hwy (A1) and Barrier Hwy (A32).
The Wilkins Highway is named after Sir Hubert Wilkins, who was an Australian polar explorer, ornithologist, pilot, soldier, geographer and photographer. RM Williams Way was named after Reginal Murray Williams who was an Australian bushman and entrepreneur who rose from a swagman to a millionaire. Petersburg Road is named after the original name of the town of Peterborough, which was originally named Petersburg after the landowner, Peter Doecke, who sold land to create the town. It was one of 69 places in South Australia renamed in 1917 due to anti-German sentiments during World War I.
