General Information:
State Route 24 is an arterial road servicing Brisbane's eastern suburbs and the Port of Brisbane shipping precinct. A mix of divided and undivided road, the route once formed the main road servicing the area prior to the Port of Brisbane Mwy opened.
History:
- 21 November 2011: The Freight Street and Lytton Road intersection was closed to help with traffic flow and increase safety along Lytton Road. Freight Street became a cul-de-sac as a result. 2
- August, 2018: Completion of Port Drive upgrades. The upgrade also included the Port Drive shared path, which is dedicated to the late Mr Peter Frawley, who lost his life in a road accident while cycling on port roads in 2007. 3
- January 2020: Completion of reconstruction of outbound lanes on Lytton Road. In addition to the road upgrades, bike lanes and a footpath adjacent to Lytton Road were completed as well. 4
