General Information:
State Route 17 is an arterial route in the city of Townsville, on the north coast of Queensland.
The route once formed part of National Highway 1 and also National Route 1, prior to the introduction of the National Highway system during the 1970s.
State Route is a mix of divided and undivided road, linking the Townsville CBD with the Bruce Highway (A1) and Flinders Highway (A6). The route is not all that well signposted with only a handful of signs showing SR17, the rest either show no route at all or have a blank coverplate over the former route number.
