General Information:
A3 is a major route in eastern Queensland, connecting the
Darling Downs region to the northern coastal regions of the state. It's also
not connected to the M3 / A3 route in Brisbane.
It consists of mostly rural highway roadway, but passes
through several of Queensland's important regional centres.
Multiplexes along the route include:
- A2 (Warrego Hwy), for 400 m at Toowoomba
- SR49, for 2 km at Goomeri
- SR60 (Dawson Hwy), for 1.5 km at Biloela
History:
- 28 November 2008: Completion of intersection upgrade
with Bunya Hwy (SR49) and Burnett Hwy (A3) at Goomeri. The project involved
realigning and widening the road, reshaping of the T-intersection, resurfacing
the road and installing new lighting. 2
- May 2009: Safety improvements including pavement widening,
new signage and fencing complete between Gayndah and Monto. 3
- 2010: Replacement of Three Moon Creek Bridge on the Burnett
Highway, 1 km north-west of Monto. 4
- February 2011: Work begins on a replacement bridge over
Harkness Boundary Creek at Eidsvold, replacing a 51 year old timber bridge.

- June 2011: Work commences on widening a 9 km section
of Burnett Hwy between Dululu and Biloela. 6
- October 2011: Works commenced to widen the Burnett Hwy
at Ceratodus and Mundubbera. 7
